Manning’s 2nd, or Bree’s 1st?

This Sunday, Feb. 7 will be the last day of the 2009-2010 NFL season, as the Indianapolis Colts take on the New Orleans Saints in Miami.

This will be the Saints’ first showing in the Super Bowl in the 43 years they have been a team, and nothing new to Manning for this will be his fourth Super Bowl showing.

With the Saints 13-0 at the beginning of the playoffs and ending with the record of 15-3, and the Colts with a 14-0 season record with the playoff record of 16-2 they are ready to take on each other to see who will be the XLIV Super Bowl Champion.

This is the first time since 1993 that the top seeds have both made their way to the Superbowl.

If the saying you’re only as good as your last game can be proven as a true statement, then the prediction for the Super Bowl would bring the Indianapolis Colts out on top for Sunday’s game.

Manning had three touchdowns, 377 passing yards, and brought up a total of 27 first downs with zero interceptions, with a win over the Jets 30-17. Brees on the other hand took on Vikings quarterback Brett Favre and had a total of 257 yards, four touchdowns, and a total of 15 first downs. The big difference with the stats is that without Vikings five turnovers during the game, the Vikings nearly doubled the Saints stats in the game. Mistakes like that don’t come from Manning, so hopefully the Saints can stop Manning in the very beginning.

A few things the Saints have over their head, are the hunger and strive they have to win their first Super Bowl, not only for themselves as a team but also for their city. After Katrina hit, the team believes this is a way to finish their rebuilding process, with just a win. Also Colts defensive end, Dwight Freeny has been said to be out of the game due to torn ligaments in his ankle, to replace him in the game will be second string Raheem Brock.

There is no way to say how the game will turn out, except watching it Sunday on your CBS affiliate. With the Super Bowl, anything is bound to happen.
